How To Simplify Your Life To Be Less Stressful – Part Three

Simplifying your life will empower and enable you to feel that you are in control of your life as much as you possibly can be. Being in control of things will fill you with a sense of ease, comfort, and peace of mind.

One of the first things to do every single day, is to follow a Daily Plan. With this, you get up at the same time every morning e.g. 7 am, and you retire at night at the same time every night e.g. 10 pm. You eat your breakfast at 7 am, your lunch at 1 pm, and your evening meal at 6 pm or 7 pm, and work at everything else around your meal-times, and snack times. Make a list of all the things you want to do on a particular day, and write down the time you start each task and the time you finish it. Include your appointments and every chore that is a high priority. Working on tasks in this way will make you feel that you are in control of things.

Daily Plan

When you begin working on your daily tasks, tell yourself that you will do only one thing at a time, and that you will really concentrate on doing it. This is very simple. You just focus completely on doing one thing at a time. Do one thing at a time, one step at a time, and one day at a time. You clear your desk space as much as you can, and give it a good scrub. Choose something, one thing, that needs your attention and needs to be worked on, like an important letter, an email or a report. Remove your phones, ignore all the emails in your inbox, and just work on the one thing that you have chosen. Ignore all your other tasks until this one thing has been done and fully completed. Being in control of an activity in this way will give you wonderful sense of ease, comfort, and peace of mind.

The main thing to do to make your life less stressful, is to sort out your house. Declutter everything in every room, one room at a time. Start with all your piles of papers that are scattered around all over the place, and then move onto things like clothing, and china ornaments. Have a box for “keep”, a box for “chuck”, and a box for “dither”, and you will feel so much better when the rooms are looking better. When you have done that, you can give each room a lift by just re-painting the walls. When the house is in order, then get your finances in order too. Ask the bank for help with doing this, if you need to. You will achieve a great sense of peace of mind by doing all this, because you will feel that you are in control.

Make sure that you get regular, daily exercise, because this will help you to deal with any stress. Apart from going for a walk, with or without a dog, or even going for a run, there are forms of exercise that you can do indoors by yourself, or outdoors in a group. Yoga or tai chi are good examples of these, because they will help you to really unwind and you will feel so much better and more relaxed afterwards. You can even join socially distanced outdoor yoga and tai chi classes. If you do not fancy having to lie down on the grass, invest in a very good yoga mat to take with you.

How To Simplify Your Life To Be Less Stressful – Part Two

The first major thing to do, is to get your house in order, especially if it is an absolute mess and everything is lying about everywhere.

To help you to keep on track with everything you are doing towards organizing your house, you will find it very helpful to keep a daily plan. To make things easier, have breakfast, lunch, and dinner around the same time every day and work everything else around this. Have three columns in your Daily Plan. In the first column put “Start”, in the second column put “Task”, (such as “filing papers”), and in the third column put “Finish”.

A Smartphone “To Do” List

You cannot do the whole house all at once, so write a long To Do List of each room in the order you want to do them. Start on the room at the top of your list. Before you begin, organize three piles of things in that room. Make one pile for “chuck”, one for “keep”, one for “dither”, and maybe one for “donate”. Pick up every single thing and think to yourself, “Have I used this item in the past year?”. “Am I likely to need it again?”. This will help you to decide whether you can sling it, or not.

When you have cleared away the clutter from each room, they will look so much bigger. Do one room at a time, and when it is ready, give it a thorough deep clean. Doing this will make you want to re-decorate. You don’t have to get somebody in to do the decorating, all the room will need is a fresh lick of paint on the walls to freshen it up. And then you can continue on to the other rooms.

When you have completed the kitchen, for example, and/or the pantry, start thinking about where to put all your food. You can also start thinking about stockpiling things that you would be needing eventually, especially things that have long dates on them such as tins of soup, tins of tomatoes and tins of baked beans.

When your house is finally in order, you can also help yourself to simplify your life by organizing your finances if they are in a mess. If necessary you can ask the bank to help you with this. You can either call them on the phone, make an appointment to go and see someone there, or write an email or a letter to them, whichever you feel the most comfortable with doing. Tell them what you would like to be able to do. Tell them things like you want to have just one current account, one credit card, one savings account and one loan account. They will organize everything for you, and you will feel so much more on top of things when it has all been sorted out.

Whenever you wish to do so, stop what you are currently doing for a few moments, and remember something amazing and wonderful called hypnosis.
