How To Simplify Your Life To Be Less Stressful – Part Two

The first major thing to do, is to get your house in order, especially if it is an absolute mess and everything is lying about everywhere.

To help you to keep on track with everything you are doing towards organizing your house, you will find it very helpful to keep a daily plan. To make things easier, have breakfast, lunch, and dinner around the same time every day and work everything else around this. Have three columns in your Daily Plan. In the first column put “Start”, in the second column put “Task”, (such as “filing papers”), and in the third column put “Finish”.

A Smartphone “To Do” List

You cannot do the whole house all at once, so write a long To Do List of each room in the order you want to do them. Start on the room at the top of your list. Before you begin, organize three piles of things in that room. Make one pile for “chuck”, one for “keep”, one for “dither”, and maybe one for “donate”. Pick up every single thing and think to yourself, “Have I used this item in the past year?”. “Am I likely to need it again?”. This will help you to decide whether you can sling it, or not.

When you have cleared away the clutter from each room, they will look so much bigger. Do one room at a time, and when it is ready, give it a thorough deep clean. Doing this will make you want to re-decorate. You don’t have to get somebody in to do the decorating, all the room will need is a fresh lick of paint on the walls to freshen it up. And then you can continue on to the other rooms.

When you have completed the kitchen, for example, and/or the pantry, start thinking about where to put all your food. You can also start thinking about stockpiling things that you would be needing eventually, especially things that have long dates on them such as tins of soup, tins of tomatoes and tins of baked beans.

When your house is finally in order, you can also help yourself to simplify your life by organizing your finances if they are in a mess. If necessary you can ask the bank to help you with this. You can either call them on the phone, make an appointment to go and see someone there, or write an email or a letter to them, whichever you feel the most comfortable with doing. Tell them what you would like to be able to do. Tell them things like you want to have just one current account, one credit card, one savings account and one loan account. They will organize everything for you, and you will feel so much more on top of things when it has all been sorted out.

Whenever you wish to do so, stop what you are currently doing for a few moments, and remember something amazing and wonderful called hypnosis.
