Review of “Confidence With Hypnotic Inductions”, by Dantalion Jones

I saw a video instructed by Dantalion Jones on “Confidence With Hypnotic Inductions”.

The purpose of this video is to give you some general information and advice on how to gain confidence when you are performing hypnotic inductions.

At the beginning, Dantalion introduced himself personally.  He explained that he is recording this for his Advanced Hypnosis Skills facebook group, and he is also recording it for the University of Hypnotism, which you will find on the you tube channel.

I am doing this in response to a comment that was made on the group, by a fellow called Gordon.  Gordon said that his specific question was about having confidence when doing a hypnotic induction.  He said that although he was extremely good at doing covert and conversational hypnosis, when it came to someone physically coming up to him and saying, “Hypnotize me”, in other words saying they were wanting a hypnotic induction, he felt that he was being challenged.  What he said was, that he wanted to feel confident about his choice of words when doing the actual induction, and to seem like a well-versed and successful hypnotist in the eyes of the subject, and to be able to draw forth respect from the subject regarding following the hypnotic instructions.

First and foremost, if Gordon is really good at covert hypnosis like he said he was, then he has my thumbs up, because covert hypnosis is really challenging.  Learning covert hypnosis can be like learning a whole new language, unlike direct hypnosis which is pretty straightforward, and it’s pretty simple.

One of the reasons that most people are challenged with doing direct hypnosis, is because it’s a situation where someone says, “Hypnotize me”, and you’re actually put in a situation where you may fail, but you and the other person will realize that he didn’t get hypnotized, and that, for a lot of people, is a major challenge.  What I want to do, is tell you first of all, to “accept the challenge”.  Set your mind to it, and really decide that, if someone says, “Hypnotize me”, make it your intent to hypnotize them.  Go ahead and do just that.  When you’re able to do that, just put all of your attention on that person.

Now, there are some things that I can give you, and Gordon, some information and advice that will make this very easy.  First and foremost, learn your hypnotic inductions.  Memorize a few of them, and three things you can do is practise, and practise, and practise.  And when I say practise, I mean stand in front of a mirror, speak out loud, and imagine that someone is there that you’re hypnotizing, and imagine them responding to it.  So, you start to train yourself to do this, and understand what it’s like to really start to get comfortable giving these commands.  Do it out loud, preferably in front of a mirror, and pretend, imagine, there’s someone there you’re hypnotizing.

At this point, Dantalion held up a manual of his direct hypnosis teachings.  This is the book that I use when I’m doing workshops.  Now you can get this book, you can get it on Amazon, but it’s way too expensive there.  However, if you go to my website, mindcontrolpublishing.com, you can get it at a discount.

mindcontrolpublishing.com

It is the one book that I use when I’m teaching it one-to-one, and it also has quite a few inductions in there, along with the normal process, the ten step process of hypnosis that we use, so I recommend it.

You can just as easily go into you tube and type in “hypnotic inductions”, and you’ll find a couple of hundred of them.  What I recommend is that you find one, just get one and memorize it, practise it, and then practise it, and practise it.  You’ll get your confidence up that way”.

One of the things that I think is really important to understand is that, when you’re doing direct hypnosis, and someone asks you to “Hypnotize me”, I’m going to first assume that they’re not challenging you, they’re not saying, “I bet you can’t hypnotize me”.  Instead they’re saying, “I want this really amazing and interesting experience”.  That’s great.

I will tell you how to respond when someone challenges you with, “I bet you can’t hypnotize me”.  So if someone comes up and says, “I want you to hypnotize me and  let me be your subject”, think of it this way.  You’re not going to give hypnotic suggestions.  Don’t ever give hypnotic suggestions.  Instead, give instructions.  The whole idea of a suggestion implies that they don’t have to do it, but an instruction implies that if they follow the instruction, they get the result.  When you think of it and actually present it as, “OK, follow my instructions”, what happens is, the responsibility goes on them.  If nothing happens, if you’ve done the induction correctly, and they’re saying, “it didn’t work”, it’s because they didn’t follow it.

So the first thing you do, let’s assume you have memorized your induction.  If someone comes up and says, “Hey, I’d love to be your hypnosis subject”, you say, “look me straight in the eye”.  You say, “OK, all you have to do is follow my instructions, agreed?”.  And notice that I’m raising my eyebrows up and down, and nodding my head as I’m saying, “agreed?”.  And you wait for them to say, “OK”.

At that point you start to give them just simple directions.  This is not part of the hypnosis process.  It is part of them getting comfortable hearing and following instructions.  So you say, “OK.  Stand over here.  Sit down.  Put your feet together”.  You don’t tell them why you’re doing it, you’re just giving them direct instructions so that they get comfortable following your instructions.  Once that happens, then you go into the induction.

Now, I have a very good induction I use all the time.  It’s perfect.  It never fails me because I am practised at it.  It’s a very familiar induction.  I will give it to you.  If you get the workbook that I use in my seminars, you’ll find that it is in there, but it goes basically like this.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH …

In fact, before I do it, if you want to follow along with me, just follow my instructions and notice your response.  OK?.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH …

CLOSE YOUR EYES …

GOOD …

NOW FOCUS ON YOUR EYES AND YOUR EYELIDS …

FOCUS TOTALLY ON YOUR EYES AND EYELIDS …

AND FOR THIS MOMENT …

FOR RIGHT NOW …

JUST PRETEND … IMAGINE … JUST SUPPOSE …

THAT YOU HAVE TAPED YOUR EYELIDS SHUT …

THEY’RE NOW SEALED TOGETHER …

THEY’RE LOCKED DOWN …

THEY’RE TAPED SO SECURELY …

SEALED SO TIGHTLY …

AND LOCKED SO FIRMLY …

THAT YOU KNOW …

NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY …

THEY SIMPLY STAY CLOSED …

MAKE THAT TRUE …

AND WHEN YOU HAVE …

JUST FOR AN INSTANT …

PROVE IT TO YOURSELF …

TEST IT …

You’ll see them raising their eyebrows up and down, and when you see that, you say …

STOP TESTING …

SLEEP! (Click your fingers) …

GO DEEPER …

AND DEEPER …

AND DEEPER …

THE DEEPER YOU GO …

THE BETTER YOU FEEL …

AND THE BETTER YOU FEEL …

THE DEEPER YOU GO …

OK, now if you’re following along, if you’re in hypnosis, and if you enjoyed the process, you can always go back to this video and get the rest of it, or you can just keep going deeper and enjoying what you’re experiencing right here.

The point is, that’s as simple as it needs to be.  As long as they’re following your instructions, and you’re giving them as instructions, not so much as commands but as instructions, they’ll follow along.

Now what happens if someone comes up to you and they say, “I bet you can’t hypnotize me?”  Now I kick that off.  I say, “I’m a hypnotist.  I’m going to hypnotize you”.  It’s the usual young man I’m not going to do too much work with, and they think that they’re strong-willed, and they have a misconception of hypnosis.  So they say, “I bet you can’t hypnotize me”.  Well, I always just turn it back on them.  I say, “well, you know, you may be right, because there are people that I know who aren’t able to follow instructions.  Either because they don’t want to, or they simply don’t have the ability to follow instructions.  I’ll tell you what, let’s try something and let’s determine whether you are one of those people”.  I just turned it around, and I made the challenge now on them.  It’s up to them to prove that they have an attention span and can follow instructions.

When someone does come up to you and says, “Can you hypnotize me?”, it’s always a good idea to ask them, “what do you want to experience?”.  For some people, they just want the experience of being hypnotized.  That’s understandable.  They just want to get this feeling.  Maybe you could take their hand and lift up their hand, like this, (Dantalion held up one of his hands with his other hand), and have them look at it as though it’s completely separate from their body.  And they have that experience of dissociation and that’s really something that they respond to very well.  So just take their hand and lift it up, have them open their eyes and look at it.  And then say, “as much as you try … you cannot move it … no matter how hard you try … it just stays right there”.Now go on from there, do your research on the various other hypnotic phenomena and let them have, most of all, let them have a very positive experience as you do this.

Now with the instruction that I give in this book and at the workshops and the seminars, there’s a whole Ten Step Process.  It’s a really good process.  I love it.  I teach it.  I’m sort of just married to it.  But understand, that as long as you can do the induction, as long as you can get them in that state, you will get some really good results.

So I do hope that this has answered some of your questions regarding building your confidence.  I know that my mentor, Jeff Stephens, spent a lot of time talking about the whole idea of “intent”.  An intent is when you have determined that what is going to happen, is going to happen, and as a hypnotist you have “set your intent” that “this person is going to be hypnotized”.  So regardless of what happens, and regardless of how they respond, whether it’s really positively, or if it’s challenging, it doesn’t faze you.  You’re simply going to keep doing it and doing it, and doing something different, until they respond exactly the way you want.  That is the strength of your intent.  So I hope this has answered your questions.

If you do have any other questions, go to the facebook group, Advanced Hypnosis Skills, and join.  Type your question in there.  You can also go to the you tube channel, the University of Hypnotism, and I’ll be happy to respond there as well.

Thank you very much.  I’m really looking forward to getting your responses.  Take care.  Goodbye.

Review Of The “Arm Pull” Hypnotic Induction, by Sean Michael Andrews

I saw a video instructed by Sean Michael Andrews on the “Arm Pull” Hypnotic Induction.

The purpose of this hypnotic induction is to demonstrate the complexity of the mind, and to prove that the client can be hypnotized.

It is a very quick induction, and it is also very sharp, because the sharpness gives the shock that makes this induction work.  It is an extremely quick induction where the client falls into a very deep trance very quickly.

This is what I have learned.

Tell the client, “stand right there facing me, with your feet together”.  They stand facing you, with their feet together.

Then say, “give me your right hand”.  Take their right hand with your right hand, as though you are going to give them a handshake, and at the same time gently place your left hand on their right shoulder.

Tell them, “look straight at me here”, while touching your left temple with your left index finger.  They look straight into your eyes.  This is a form of eye engagement.  You’re narrowing their focus and directing their attention to the point where all they are aware of, is the sound of your voice and what you are saying to them.

Now gently place your left hand around the back of their head, while still holding their right hand with your right hand, and then gaze intently into their eyes for just a few seconds.

Suddenly say, “SLEEP!” in a very commanding tone, at the same time as you sharply but gently pull once on their right hand with your right hand.  Then suddenly let go, causing their right arm to drop down by their right hand side.  As they fall slightly towards you, with both of their arms now straight down and rigid just in front of them, gently bring their head forward.  Move their head gently towards you with your left hand, cradling it onto your left shoulder so that it sits comfortably.  However, make sure that you do this gently and not violently, so that you do not hurt them, for example, by injuring their neck.

Immediately start talking to them quietly and soothingly, and just as you begin to do so, test their left arm a couple of times to make sure that it is rigid.  Tell them, “okay, now just relax and close your eyes.  Breathe in relaxation, and exhale tension and all worry.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  All you are aware of is the sound of my voice.  Continue to listen to the sound of my voice.  You are aware of nothing but the soothing sound of my voice.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  Keep breathing in relaxation, and exhale tension and all worry.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  All you are aware of is the soothing sound of my voice.  Continue to listen to the soothing sound of my voice.  You are aware of nothing but the soothing sound of my voice.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  Now settle back down and just go to sleep.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  All you are aware of is the soothing sound of my voice.  Continue to listen to the soothing sound of my voice.  You are aware of nothing but the soothing sound of my voice.  You are now very deeply hypnotized.  Just relax, okay?”.

When you have finished talking to them, tell them, “now, on the count of three, you will be wide awake from your sleep, with your eyes wide open.  You will be wide awake, fully alert, and feeling absolutely wonderful”.

Count firmly out loud.  Say, “1, 2, 3.  Eyes wide open.  Wide awake.  Fully alert, and feeling absolutely wonderful.  Feeling okay?”.  Wait for them to say something or nod their head.

Then say, “that was great.  You did wonderfully.  Now let’s do it all again from the other side”.  Change sides with the client.

Tell them, “stand right there facing me, with your feet together”.  They stand facing you, with their feet together.

Then say, “give me your right hand”.  Take their right hand with your right hand, as though you are going to give them a handshake, and at the same time gently place your left hand on their right shoulder.

Tell them, “look straight at me right here”, while touching your left temple with your left index finger.

Finally say, “okay, thank you very much.  You did wonderfully.  That was absolutely great”.

The purpose of this hypnotic induction is to train the client to respond in the same way as before.  The shock of having their arm pulled puts their mind into a state of confusion.  They are looking for direction.  They hear the word “SLEEP!”, they grab onto the word and just go all relaxed, because it’s the one thing out of all the confusion that they understand, so they grab onto it and follow it.

This is a very instructional video.  There was sufficient verbal and visual instruction in this video for someone to be able to perform this hypnotic induction on a client, either in a hypnotist’s office or when performing street hypnosis.  It is particularly suitable for performing out on the street, because it is an extremely quick induction where the client falls into a very deep trance very quickly.

If you’re learning this hypnotic induction, you will need to gain confidence through practice and rehearsal.  When performing this for the first time, display confidence.  Let no-one know this is your first attempt.

Review Of The “Magnetic Hands” Hypnotic Induction, by Alicia Fairclough

I saw a video instructed by Alicia Fairclough on the “Magnetic Hands” Hypnotic Induction.

The purpose of this hypnotic induction is to demonstrate the complexity of the mind, and to prove that the client can be hypnotized.

It is not a rapid induction as it takes several minutes to do, but it is very simple, easy and straightforward.  It would not really be suitable for wanting a client to fall into a trance very quickly, like when performing street hypnosis.

Make sure the client is sitting in a comfortable, upright position, with their feet flat on the floor.

Tell them to put their hands out in front of them, arms straight and elbows locked.

Say, “close your eyes”.

Tell them to focus on the sound of your voice, and to continue focusing on the sound of your voice.  This narrows their awareness of their surroundings to the point that all they are aware of is your voice and what you are saying to them.

Tell them, “you now have magnets in the palms of your hands.  Your hands are now starting to move towards each other, which they are now doing, and the magnets in the palm of each hand will gradually pull your hands closer and closer together”.

Keep repeating phrases such as, “the more you resist the feeling, the stronger the magnets become, ever more drawing your palms closer and closer together”.

Tell them, “your palms keep coming closer together, feeling the magnetic pull, until they clasp together as if in prayer, and they are completely stuck together”.

Again say, “the more you resist, the stronger that magnetic pull becomes, the hands getting closer and closer, until they clasp, and they’re completely clasped, sticking your hands together completely”.

Once the hands touch each other, say, “those hands are stuck together, as you continue to listen to the sound of my voice, with those palms stuck together”.

And then, after a little while, say, “And 3 – 2 – 1”, (CLAP YOUR HANDS), “your hands are now coming apart, as if by magic, and are now resting, wherever they’re comfortable”.

Tell them, “continue listening to the sound of my voice”.  Talk to them soothingly for a while to ensure they are remaining calm and peaceful.  Say, “continue to listen to the sound of my voice, as you rest in that peaceful hypnotic state.  You may notice you’re feeling heavy, that’s okay”.

From here, the hypnotist can give further hypnotic instructions and suggestions to the client.

For example, tell them, “you hear the sound of the waves rolling and breaking, rhythmic and peaceful, soothing sounds.  And as you rest in the moment, and appreciate the beauty of  nature, you are overwhelmed with a sense of calmness and peacefulness”.

And after that, waken them from their deep hypnotic state to become fully awake and fully aware, and still feeling blissfully calm and blissfully peaceful.

This is a very instructional video.  There was sufficient instruction in this video for someone to be able to perform this hypnotic induction on a client.  If you are learning this hypnotic induction, you will need to gain confidence through practice and rehearsal.  When performing this for the first time, display confidence.  Let no one know this is your first attempt.

What Does Deeper Mean, In Hypnosis?, by Rosemary Barrett

A definition of “going deeper” is “to focus more enjoyably”.

“Deeper” has to do with “becoming more enjoyably focused”.

A “deepener” is not the whole of the hypnosis process, it is just a part of the hypnosis process.

A deepener further reduces the client’s awareness of what is around them, to the point where their awareness has become so narrowed, that all they are capable of doing, is focusing only on the sound of the hypnotist’s voice and on what the hypnotist is saying to them.

By turning focus into enjoyment it becomes easier for the client to be able to focus even more.

I say, “The deeper you go, the better you feel, and the better you feel, the deeper you go”.

Once the hypnotist has linked enjoyment to focusing, the client will find enjoyment in focusing, and they start feeling even more enjoyably focused, feeling even better, and so they start to focus even more.

They find enjoyment in focusing, because the deepener makes it enjoyable to focus, and they become even more enjoyably focused, and they go even deeper, and they feel even better, and then all they want to do, is focus even more.

Because they are finding enjoyment in focusing, they start feeling better, and they then become even more enjoyably focused, and they automatically go even deeper, and they feel even better.  The client is then becoming even more enjoyably focused, they are just going even deeper, and they are feeling even better.  It’s so much easier for them to go deeper, because it’s more enjoyable, and it just follows naturally.

Because they are still finding enjoyment in focusing, they are focusing even more enjoyably, and they are becoming even more enjoyably focused, and they are going even deeper, and they are feeling even better still.  And because they are becoming even more enjoyably focused, and going even deeper, and feeling even better, this makes it so much more enjoyable for them to focus.  And they will want to focus even more.

And so …

As they go deeper and deeper, they will feel better and better, and as they continue to go deeper and even deeper, they will feel better and even better.  They will want to continue to focus even more enjoyably, they will want to become even more enjoyably focused, and they will want to continue going deeper and deeper and even deeper, because then they know that they will continue to feel better and even better as they go deeper and deeper and even deeper.  They keep focusing even more enjoyably, and they keep becoming even more enjoyably focused, and they then automatically continue to go deeper … and deeper … and even deeper …, and they feel better … and better … and even better.

And because they are thoroughly enjoying this absolutely amazing, and absolutely incredible, and absolutely wonderful feeling, they continue to focus even more enjoyably, they feel even better, they become even more enjoyably focused, they continue to go even deeper, and they continue to feel even better.

And all the while, throughout the deepener, they are simply going deeper … and deeper … and deeper still … without … even … noticing … .

Once the hypnotist has gone through all of the deepeners, he can then lead the client naturally into the change work for issues such as Anxiety and Stress, Quit Smoking, Fears and Phobias, Insomnia, Confidence, and Weight Loss.  “Change Work” is known as “The Golden Box”.

DEEPENERS

There are two kinds of deepeners.  These are the simple deepeners, and the complex deepeners.  I will describe a couple of examples of both types of deepeners, and the process behind them.

EXAMPLES OF SIMPLE DEEPENERS

A simple deepener is the most straightforward, because it is simple, fast and direct.  It is a very quick and easy way to deepen the client’s state of hypnosis.

The “Go Deeper And Deeper ” Deepener

The “Go Deeper And Deeper” Deepener is a very basic simple deepener, and it is usually the first one to use.

The hypnotist says:- “Go deeper and deeper.  Focus even more enjoyably.  That’s what deeper means.  So the deeper you go, the better you feel, and the better you feel, the deeper you go”.

In this deepener, the hypnotist is describing to the client that “deeper” means “focus more enjoyably”, to make sure that they know what the word actually means.  They will begin linking the word “deeper” with experiencing a very good and enjoyable feeling.

The “Three To Zero” Deepener

The “Three To Zero” Deepener is usually the second simple deepener to use.  This deepener further links the word “deeper” with a very good and enjoyable feeling.  It basically consists of counting from three down to zero.

In the “three to zero” deepener, the hypnotist tells the client what is going to happen, and how they’re going to respond to it.

The hypnotist says:- “In a moment I’m going to count from three down to zero, and you go ten times deeper with every count”.

The “Snap” Deepener

The hypnotist says:- “In a moment I will snap my fingers, and you will go ten times deeper, and every time I snap my fingers you will go ten times deeper with every snap”.

The “Knock” Deepener

The hypnotist says:- “In a moment I will knock on the desk, and you will go ten times deeper, and every time I knock on the desk you will go ten times deeper with every knock”.

The “Tap” Deepener

The hypnotist says:- “In a moment I will tap you on the knee, and you will go ten times deeper, and every time I tap you on the knee you will go ten times deeper with every tap”.

The “Hand Lift” Deepener

The hypnotist says:- “In a moment I’m going to lift your hand, and when I let it go you’re going to go ten times deeper”.

EXAMPLES OF COMPLEX DEEPENERS

A complex deepener is more detailed and descriptive and requires slightly more instructions.  It deepens the client’s state of hypnosis even further.

The hypnotist says:- “This is what I’m going to do.  This is how you’re going to respond”.

The “Auto-Deepener”

This deepener is very useful for when the hypnotist wants the client to deepen himself.  Once it gets going, the hypnotist can use it for quite a while, and he can take them very, very deep.

The hypnotist says:-

“And as wonderful as you feel right now …

There is always a level that’s deeper …

Where you feel even better …

So right now …

Go to that deeper level …

Where you’re even more focused …

Feeling even better …

And when you’re there …

Nod your head …

And now go even further …

Focusing even more enjoyably …

Finding that deeper level …

And when you’re there …

Feeling even better …

Again …

Nod your head …

Good …

And now begin to just keep going deeper …

Finding a deeper level …

Feeling even better …

Nodding your head …

Again … and again … and again …

Until I tell you to stop …

So keep going even deeper …

Feeling even better …

Nodding your head …

And deeper still …

Very … very … good …

Just keep going deeper …

Because the deeper you go …

The better you feel …

And the better you feel …

The deeper you go …

So just keep going deeper and deeper …

Feeling better and better …

Just like that …

And now you can stop …

Nodding your head …

And if you like …

Go even deeper …”.

The “Passing Through The Zero” Deepener

During this deepener, the hypnotist draws the client’s attention to the wonderful and intense pleasure that they will unfailingly experience once they pass through the zero.  The heightened anticipation and excitement that the client feels about experiencing this intensely wonderful pleasure makes them completely and totally unaware of absolutely everything else.

The hypnotist says:-

“And now …

In a moment …

Not now …

But in a moment …

I’m going to count from five down to zero …

And there is …

Way out there in the distance …

A great big, beautiful, round zero …

Now focus on that zero …

Focus totally on that zero …

In fact …

Focus all of your attention on the very centre of that zero …

Because when I begin counting …

You will begin moving towards that zero …

And when I reach the zero …

You will reach the zero …

And you will pass right through the very centre of the zero …

And you will enter the most beautiful …

the most wonderfully pleasant …

and the most profoundly absorbing …

experience of hypnosis that you could ever imagine …

You really want to go through the very centre of that zero …

So focus on it now …

Focus totally on that zero …

FIVE … You’re moving towards the zero now …

You want to get to it …

and through it …

as quickly as possible …

FOUR … You’re getting closer …

You now feel anticipation …

getting stronger and stronger …

as you get closer and closer to the zero …

THREE … Now you know that what is through there …

is even more amazing …

more enjoyable …

than you could ever have imagined …

TWO … You’re getting closer …

Now you can feel every part of you …

wanting to get through there …

Now you can feel every part of you …

screaming for you to get through there …

ONE … You’re almost there …

So close … so close …

ZERO … You’re there …

Pass Through It …

And just let it wash over you and through you …

like waves are passing through you …

And with every breath …

you feel a wave pass through you …

and you feel even better …

A wave is passing through you right now …

and anything you see now …

is so beautiful …

so amazing …

and you feel even better …

Another wave passes through you …

and any sound …

anything you hear …

is as beautiful as music …

and you feel even better …

Another wave passes through you …

and as it does …

every feeling … every emotion …

is now just pleasure and joy …

and you feel even better …

Now another wave passes through you …

and every taste and smell …

is so satisfying …

and you feel even better …

And as wonderful as you feel right now …

You know …

That every time I say the word deeper …

You will feel ten times better …

Than you did the moment before …

So now go deeper … and deeper …

Feeling better … and better …

And deeper still …

Feeling even better …

Because the deeper you go …

The better you feel …

And the better you feel …

The deeper you go …

So just keep going deeper and deeper …

Feeling better and better …

Just … like … that …”.

How To Change Habits With Hypnosis, by Rosemary Barrett

A habit is something that you find yourself doing or thinking about automatically, even when you do not want to do it or think about it.

There are many different kinds of habits.

Some of the most common bad habits are smoking; drinking too much alcohol; binge drinking, when you might drink a whole bottle of wine or more without really thinking too much about it; drinking too much caffeine; over-eating; binge eating, when you eat too much of one particular type of food such as a whole packet of biscuits, rather than just one or two; comfort eating, which happens when you are feeling stressed, tired out, bored, or simply fed up, and you want to eat lots of something really yummy, like a huge plateful of home made shepherd’s pie dripping with home made gravy, or a very large serving of sweet and sugary home made banoffee pie, because you know that it will make you feel better; and wasting a lot of time playing computer games, when you know that you should be doing something much more important like the housework.  There are people who can spend up to four hours just playing poker online, instead of scrubbing the filthy kitchen floor.

You will usually find yourself slipping into your bad habits without even thinking about it.   This will often happen when you are feeling really anxious or tired out, or even when you are having to concentrate extremely hard on something.  You will then automatically find yourself resorting to your bad habits, because you know that they will comfort you, and that they will help you to feel so much better than you were the moment before.

For example, you might have had a very bad day at the office, which started when the supervisor told you off for being half an hour late, even though it was not your fault, because you had got stuck in traffic and there wasn’t anything you could have done about it.  When you get a day like that, you can’t wait to get home at the end of it, and when you do, the first thing that you do is go to the fridge, get a bottle of white wine out of it and steadily drink yourself through three glasses.  Or more.  And, of course, you also have to munch your way through a couple of large packets of cheese and onion potato crisps along with it.  They just sort of go together, don’t they?  The ideal accompaniment.

While you are thoroughly enjoying your “treats”, which you thoroughly deserve after such an awful and thoroughly stressful day, you find yourself thinking, “Well, why shouldn’t I do something that actually helps to make me feel better?”.  You will automatically “comfort drink” and “comfort eat”.  And on top of all this, you might be someone who is on a diet and trying to lose lots of weight.  You are also trying to eat only healthy food that is good for you.  You might have tried to cut out all the junk food like those processed ready meals full of salt and sugar, and all those bottles of wine, never mind the potato crisps, but it has all been to no avail whatsoever.  You get home; you go to the fridge; and your bad habit subconsciously takes over.  You might also find yourself having a few cigarettes as well.

Hypnosis is a wonderful tool which can help you to change a bad habit.  It will help you to feel calmer and more peaceful.  It will also help you to manage anxiety and stress, which are two things that commonly lead to a bad habit.  Hypnosis will help you to replace your old, bad and negative habits with new, good and positive ones, and you will feel much more positive about things and life in general.  Hypnosis can completely put an end to all of your bad habits.

Using Hypnosis To Change Habits

What you do, is go to a depth of hypnosis where you can talk to the Subconscious Mind where you can do things differently.  I speak directly to your Subconscious Mind.

I will offer you an extremely pleasant and relaxing hypnosis session, after which you will feel thoroughly refreshed, energized and revitalized.  We will begin with a chat about your problems, which in this case will be smoking.  You want to be able to give it up altogether for the sake of your health.  This chat will take about five minutes.  Then we will begin the actual hypnosis session itself, which will take another 40 minutes or so.

I am now going to describe the whole session, so that you can understand when I will be talking to your Subconscious Mind.

At the beginning, when you are sitting in a very comfortable position, I will instruct you to close your eyes.  I will then talk to you very soothingly for a while, and this will include further instructions.  After a while, I will instruct you to take a couple of long, slow, deep breaths, which will help you to relax even further.  That is the moment when you close your eyes.  I will continue to talk to you again in a very soothing way during which time I will give you various instructions to follow.  After a while, when I know that you are in a very deep trance state, I will know that you have reached the point where I can communicate directly with your Subconscious Mind.  I speak with it directly, as though I am addressing a very intelligent 10 year old child, and I give it particular instructions to follow concerning the problem that you have and I tell it things such as:- “Starting right now, it will be healthier for (your name) to be a non-smoker”.  I will inform your Subconscious Mind, that up to now, it has been doing its job very well, but now it has been given new and improved instructions, which it will carry out from this point forward.  The change that you desire, such as the wish to be able to stop smoking, will take place at the very moment when you have understood and accepted the instructions that I have given directly to your Subconscious Mind.

And then, when it is time to end the hypnosis session, I will gently waken you, and I will bring you back to full consciousness, feeling alert, energized and absolutely wonderful.

Using Auto-Suggestion As A Form Of Self-Hypnosis To Change Habits

Another way to change a bad habit with hypnosis, is by using auto-suggestion.  This is a form of self-hypnosis.

Before you begin, you should imagine that your wish has already been realized, and that it is already in existence.  You should also bear in mind, that auto-suggestion only works when you are using it for your own personal benefit, such as to stop your own bad habits like smoking, and drinking too much alcohol.  It will never work if you try to use it in order to win a massive amount of money in a lottery, or to cause harm to another person.

The very best time to perform auto-suggestion, is at the moment when you are resting drowsily in bed last thing at night, and you are right at the point of going to sleep.  You can also do it first thing in the early morning, immediately after you wake up and you are still only half awake, and still resting lazily in bed.

Before you perform an auto-suggestion exercise, take a chain of about 40 beads.  The wording for auto-suggestion must always be in the present tense.  For example, you must always say either, “I do not smoke”, or “I do not drink alcohol”; or “I do not like smoking”, or “I do not like drinking alcohol”.  This phrasing indicates to your subconscious mind that “you do not smoke”, or “you do not drink alcohol”, and therefore makes it think that you already do not smoke or drink.  Then, just before falling asleep at night, or immediately after waking in the morning, repeat the chosen phrase such as “I do not smoke” 40 times, either mentally or quietly out loud, and move along one bead at a time with every repetition.   This will tell you that you have repeated the phrase exactly 40 times.  Just keep repeating, “I do not smoke”, “I do not smoke”, “I do not smoke”, until you get to the end of the chain of beads.  If, when you are doing this exercise at night, you do not go off to sleep after 40 repetitions, carry on for a while longer if you wish.  And also remember, that you can do this auto-suggestion early in the morning as well, when you have just woken up, if you have some time to spare.

How far can you go into hypnosis?, by Rosemary Barrett

You can go deep enough into hypnosis to put all of your worries, problems and every single little thing that is currently stressing you out, behind you.  You can go deep enough to go into catalepsy.  Late at night, and right before I want to go off to sleep, I hypnotize myself into a state of catalepsy.  In this state, I am perfectly and totally relaxed, and my body is completely rigid and I cannot move, and from there I drift off naturally, and I silently enter into a wonderfully calm and peaceful and undisturbed night’s sleep.

There are different levels of hypnosis.  Catalepsy is only one of them.  I give below some general information on each of the four main levels, starting with the lightest level, and ending with the deepest level.

The First Level – The Hypnoidal State or the Waking State

The first and lightest of these four main levels of hypnosis, is called the hypnoidal state or the waking state.  It is that state between waking and sleeping.  It is that state of being that is “like sleep”, when you are feeling extremely drowsy immediately prior to sleep, and also when you have literally just woken up after a night’s sleep.  When you are being hypnotized, you will reach this hypnotic state as you go through the hypnotic induction.  This will make you start to feel relaxed, and you will gradually start to lose your awareness of your surroundings.

Definition of Hypnoidal:- Relating to a state resembling sleep or hypnosis.

An example of the hypnoidal or waking state, is when you are at the very point of being about to go to sleep, or when you have just literally woken up after a night’s sleep.

The Second Level – Lethargy or the Light State

The second level of hypnosis, is called lethargy or the light state.  It is a light trance state, in which you will appear more relaxed than you were, when you were in the hypnoidal or waking state.  You will feel lethargic, lazy, heavy, sluggish, and unnaturally sleepy.  At this stage of hypnosis, you will be feeling more than ready to just close your eyes when the hypnotist instructs you to do so.  When you have closed your eyes, the hypnotist will notice that your eyelids are fluttering at this point, and he might also detect eyeball movements under your eyelids.  These things will inform the hypnotist that you have now entered lethargy or the light state, and they will confirm that you are now in a deeper level of hypnosis than you were before.

Definition of Lethargy:- A state characterized by abnormal sleepiness and accompanied by a feeling of being unable to do anything much.

An example of lethargy or the light state, is when you might be driving your car along a very familiar motorway along which you travel to your place of work every morning.  You could become so used to the journey that you are making, that one day you might suddenly miss an important junction and you will therefore go past it.  If this happens, it is because you have been lulled along by the routine of the journey that you have made so many times before, and you have gone into a kind of light state of self-hypnosis completely unawares.  Then all of a sudden you “waken” and find yourself on a strange part of the motorway that you do not recognize and do not know, and you have to retrace your steps and return to the correct junction.

The Third Level – Catalepsy or the Medium State

The third level of hypnosis, is called catalepsy or the medium state.  It is also called cataleptic trance.  Catalepsy is a very much deeper state of trance than Lethargy, or the light state.  At this stage of hypnosis, you will lose your focus on what is happening around you.  You will be going deeper and deeper into hypnotic trance and, as a result, you will begin to feel detached from your surroundings.  When you are deep in cataleptic trance, you will be breathing more deeply than before.  You will also readily follow all the hypnotic instructions, and the hypnotist will have a much stronger control over you.

Definition of Catalepsy:- Catalepsy is a state of hypnotic trance characterized by muscular rigidity and a fixed bodily posture, where the body is unmoving.  It is accompanied by a loss of sensation and consciousness, and a severe slowing down of bodily functions such as breathing.

An example of catalepsy or the medium state, is when you have gone to see a hypnotist about your fear of several balloons bursting at the same time.  On about your third visit, when you have become more used to the hypnotist and his ways, and having discussed the matter with him beforehand, he may decide to go ahead and place you in a cataleptic trance.  And then, having given you instructions that “you will feel no fear and you will not be afraid at all”, he will burst several balloons.  You will remain completely and totally undisturbed and unmoving in your deep cataleptic trance state, and the noise of all the balloons bursting, would simply not bother you at all.  It just would not bother you in any way.

The Fourth Level – Somnambulism or the Deep State

The fourth level of hypnosis, is called somnambulism or the deep state.  It is also called somnambulistic trance.  Somnambulism is an even deeper state of hypnotic trance than catalepsy or the medium state.  The somnambulistic trance is the deepest of all states of hypnosis.  It is the very last level of hypnosis that you can reach.  It is the very deepest and furthest hypnotic state that you can actually go to, reach, and enter.  Somnambulism or the deep state, is “how far you can go in hypnosis”.   I have answered the question.

Definition of Somnambulism:- A state characterized by walking while asleep or in a hypnotic trance.

An example of somnambulism or the deep state, is in the medical profession.  A medical hypnotist might carry out hypnosis on a patient about to undergo heart surgery who is terrified of general anaesthesia and who wants to remain awake while the surgery takes place.  The hypnotist would place the patient in an extremely deep somnambulistic trance state, and the patient would not feel a single thing during the operation.  The hypnotist would waken them from hypnosis after the surgery, and they would be wide awake, rather than unconscious from the anaesthetic.

Carol’s Problems With Weight Loss, by Rosemary Barrett

It was Friday, the 17th February, and I had an appointment scheduled for 3 o’clock with a lady called Carol, who wanted a hypnosis session to help her lose quite a bit of weight.  The weather on that day was dry and fairly mild, with spells of sunshine, and a few bits of fair-weather cloud around.  Carol knocked on my office door at four minutes to three.

“Hello Carol”, I said in a friendly and welcoming way.  “Hi”, she answered, looking a bit nervous.  “Come on in”, I said, “sit down over here in this comfortable armchair and make yourself feel at home.  Would you like a cup of tea?”.  She hesitated.  “Could I have one after?” she asked.  “Yes of course you can”, I replied, sitting down in my armchair opposite her.  They were matching light blue armchairs, that set off the darker blue carpet beautifully.

“Now then”, I began, “you told me on the phone that you were anxious to lose some weight before you go off on your holiday next year.  Am I right?”.  Carol looked quite chubby, as though she could definitely do with losing quite a bit of weight.  But she was quite pretty nonetheless.  “Oh yes”, she said, “but I can’t do without my chocolate biscuits or my jammy doughnuts.  They are all so absolutely yummy”.  “Hm’mmm”, was all I could think of to say to that, and then I thought that was a good point to give her one of my charts.  “Okay Carol, here’s a very simple chart I would like you to fill out, just to give me an idea of the kinds of things you generally eat every day, like in a typical week, Sunday to Saturday”.  “Okay”, she answered, and then proceeded to do as I had asked.

A little bit later, when looking through what she had put on the chart, I soon realized that she had rather a sweet tooth.  She had chocolate biscuits every single day, as well as some chocolate bars, and a couple of doughnuts during the week as well.  And that was without the white wine that she was guzzling over the weekend.  “Right”, I said, “we will begin by helping you with hypnosis to cut down on the chocolate biscuits, the chocolate bars, and the jam doughnuts, and on top of this, to lose all interest in drinking wine”.

“I don’t know how on earth I’m going to manage doing all that”, she said wistfully.  “After all, I really love my wine.  It really helps me with my anxiety about everything and with my stress levels.  I just don’t know how I’m going to manage without my lovely wine.

At the end of the day, there is absolutely nothing I like more, than a couple of glasses to help me unwind.  But then, I do want to lose weight.  I really do.   I absolutely hate weight loss groups, and I think hypnosis will be ideal.

The initial discussion over, I then began the hypnosis process that I know so well.  I went through it in a steady manner, and when I came to the point where I could directly access Carol’s subconscious mind, I gave implicit instructions.  These instructions were, that Carol was to eat less biscuits, especially the chocolate ones, and eat less chocolate bars, each day.  I told her subconscious mind that every single time Carol was about to eat a biscuit, especially a chocolate one, she was to imagine that the biscuit was a scallop (which she had told me she hated).  She was to be allowed only one doughnut a week, and wine was no longer of any interest to her.  I also intimated  to her subconscious mind that, if she wanted, we could certainly do some follow-up hypnosis sessions to help her even more with her weight loss.

At the end of the hypnosis session, I gently woke Carol, and I made sure she was fully awake.

I sensed that she was very focused and relaxed during the whole hypnosis session, and I thought it had gone really well.

Over a cup of tea she said, “I seem to remember hearing something about all my biscuits, especially the chocolate ones, tasting of scallops, and I found that very amusing.  That will really put me off biscuits now”.

We then agreed to schedule a few additional sessions to continue with the weight loss, and I made a further appointment with her for four weeks’ time.

SESSIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE AT WORTHING HYPNOSIS.

My Experience With Hypnosis, by Rosemary Barrett

My name is Rosemary.

This is my experience with hypnosis.

I have always had a really great interest in hypnosis.  Just before I moved house from Brighton in East Sussex to Worthing in West Sussex in August 2011, I purchased a couple of books on hypnosis written by the world’s greatest hypnotist, Dantalion Jones.  It was the name Dantalion that drew my attention to these books, and made them stand out from the other authors.  The books that I decided to buy were entitled Mind Control 101, and Perfected Mind Control, which were both about hypnosis.  I also like the book covers, which were black and purple, because these are my favourite colours.

A few months later, when I learned of the hypnosis training seminars held by the now late Jeffrey Stephens, and Dantalion, I was really excited about the thought of attending one.  There were only two things stopping me; one was this fear of flying which was not helped by the fact that I had not been on a plane for a very long time.  The other was that I was also waiting to have major heart surgery.

When I asked the hospital if I could fly, they said no, because of my condition, and they said that I should wait until I had recovered.  Dantalion used his amazing powers of hypnosis to help me prepare for the surgery.  He gave me several hypnosis sessions which really helped me to feel extremely confident, and it took just over a year  for me to feel better enough to be able to travel.

Then, after several more hypnosis sessions with Dantalion, I felt confident enough to book into a hypnosis seminar in Boston, USA, in November 2013, and the travelling did not bother me at all.  I was simply very excited at the prospect of this great adventure.  I had a super time, and I really enjoyed all the flying and the seminar itself.  I was able to accomplish all this solely due to the effects of the hypnosis.

I was incredibly impressed by what hypnosis can do, and I left the seminar feeling determined to become a great hypnotist myself.

I have created this website, purely in the hope that you will thoroughly enjoy reading everything on it, and also in the hope that you will feel inspired to give me a call.  I look forward to having a chat with you about your problems.
