How I can help you feel at ease during the coronavirus crisis

Today, you will be reading about ways to stop coronavirus making you feel so anxious and stressed out.

You may find that you are experiencing anxiety, stress, panic attacks, depression and insomnia at this most difficult time, simply because the coronavirus pandemic has deeply affected so many facets of your own personal life. You have probably noticed that every other television programme is about nothing but coronavirus. What you should do is try and remember that this outbreak will pass, and it will be the same for everyone.

Try not to sit up all night reading about coronavirus

If you are finding it a struggle to cope with mental health issues, you might be worrying quite unnecessarily about the symptoms of coronavirus. You are probably trawling through your computer reading every single scenario thinking to yourself, “have I got this”, “have I got that”, “oh I think I felt like that yesterday”. Here is a brief list of the symptoms, although it may not include all of them:- Fever, high temperature, persistent cough, shortness of breath, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, and fatigue. This list will give you some idea of the symptoms to watch out for.

The key is everything in moderation. Draw up a personal daily plan and try your very best to follow it every single day of the lockdown. Eat your meals at the same time every day. Limit watching television programmes about the virus for just an hour a day. Read articles about it online, or in your daily newspaper or a magazine for just an hour a day. This will prevent coronavirus from taking up so much of your time, and this will help you to keep up with other mundane matters, such as doing your laundry, especially if you live on your own.

Do not read articles in their entirety, because doing so will only make you fixate on the virus and you will no doubt find yourself worrying even more, and this will make you feel even more anxious and stressed. It will also no doubt keep you wide awake at night with worry. All you need is to write briefly about the key points of what to do and who to contact in certain situations. Write short notes in a special journal or notebook. Write things down so that they are not constantly whirring about in your head, saying “What if?”.
