There are several ways to help yourself to feel a peaceful calmness when a crisis shows itself.

The use of affirmations is just one of these ways. It is very easy to relax when you use positive affirmations, simply because they will help you to completely calm down and unwind. So find a comfortable and quiet place where you can sit down, and take a few deep breaths to help you to relax. Close your eyes, and focus on positives. Focus on your strengths and your resources, instead of affirming and emphasizing the crisis. Repeat a few simple phrases out loud to yourself, such as:- “I am beginning to relax beautifully. I am feeling very positive today, and I shall continue feeling positive. I am feeling calm and mindful. I am feeling at peace. My thoughts

I am feeling calm, quiet and relaxed. I am feeling calm, quiet, at peace and very comfortable. In fact, I am now feeling extremely comfortable. I am feeling a sense of comfort. There is only a deep sense of silence. My mind and my body are now completely relaxed. I can totally relax, and completely let go and totally unwind”. When you have spent 20 minutes or so repeating positive affirmations like this, you will feel very calm, relaxed and peaceful. You will feel a sense of comfort, joy and peace of mind.

Mindfulness Meditation can be very useful when you are having a crisis. It is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you are sensing, feeling and hearing in the present moment. It instructs you how to slow down all your racing and negative thoughts. It will also calm down both your mind and your body, and greatly help you to reduce your stress levels generally. The first thing that you do, is find a comfortable and quiet place where you can sit down in silence. Now make sure that you are sitting very comfortably in your armchair or on your sofa, and just settle in.

Then focus on something very specific such as a particular goal that you wish to achieve, like keeping calm amidst a crisis. You keep the result that you want to achieve and hold it deep within your mind, and imagine it becoming reality. While you are doing this, form mental images that are quiet, calm and peaceful, such as an ocean in the setting sun, or an autumnal image of a forest glade. You will slowly but surely achieve the wonderful feeling of calmness and peace of mind that you are seeking.
